Most processors struggle with the dynamics of multiple customer specifications and changing customer orders, particularly when supplying primals at short notice to an associated retail pack operation.
The level of secondary products produced can vary greatly depending on the boning specifications.
Planning horizons tend to be very short which often leads to Primals being purchased unnecessarily when they could have been supplied if the production and stock dynamics had been understood.
The SI System allows the time horizons for planning to be extended out for as long as is required. The system picks up actual orders and unconfirmed orders from the system.
The boning requirements are keyed in and the various boning specifications selected to create the required output primals.
The plan can be extended out as required.

The system will show live stock, future stock based on the daily boning plan and orders on the system. The key part is showing under sold or over sold positions and allowing the user to easily change specifications. Sales can be fluid and changed regularly and the system updates automatically real-time. The key dynamics of the system and the visibility of any change on today, this week or even this months position allows intervention in a timely manner to effect a positive result.
- Better utilisation of the carcass
- Reduced requirement to freeze product
- Improved service level performance
- Confidence to sell product in advance
- Instant understanding of the impact of changing orders
- Allows stock to be built for orders and makes it visible
- Increased profitability
Using Multiple Run Numbers
When planing with these tools it is possible to allocate production to multiple run numbers. These allow for the segregation of production. These divisions could be by shift, customer run or a time period. Whichever you choose to use the by-product of this is that you add granularity to the days production in traceability terms. Being able to focus on items produced in one of these run numbers could be far less costly in a product recall situation than having to recall all products from a whole day's production.
High Visibility
We provide high visibility of items where there is more than enough stock to cope with the demand. Items appearing as white text on a bright green background mean all is well and there is enough stock to satisfy the orders. Wherever a red cell can be seen always indicates that there is a shortfall in stock against orders. This level of visibility within our software immediately conveys the position to the operator. They can then use this information and make more informed decisions about the business and it's operation.
